The Need
There is even greater hope for animals like Custer and Fancy in the future. New facilities at Colorado State University will provide the foundation to further improve the quality of life for animals and the people who care for them.
The Hope, The Care, and The Cures is the long-range development plan to radically change the College’s South Campus, home of the James L. Voss Veterinary Teaching Hospital. Programs and services within the hospital have seen a substantial increase in demand during the last 10 years. Advances in technology and medicine require new equipment and space. Increasing numbers of veterinary specialties create demand for facilities that support their particular needs. Our scientists struggle daily, simply because our facilities cannot accommodate innovative teaching methods and additional space for learning.
Recently, the College commissioned national architectural experts in site planning to design a comprehensive Long-Range Development Plan for the 57 acres surrounding the present veterinary hospital.
This additional square-footage will be accommodated by new construction as well as remodeling present facilities. A priority of the plan is to make needed improvements to the Veterinary Teaching Hospital. In order to accommodate that remodeling, however, equine and agricultural animal veterinary units first must be moved into new buildings.
